For School Groups: Nymphenburg Palace Tour – A Fairy Tale Come True
Guided Walking Tour for School Groups in Munich
Discover the magic of Bavarian Baroque and Rococo – fit for a fairy tale.
Step into a world of royal splendour on this Nymphenburg Palace tour for school groups! The Palace of Nymphenburg and the hunting lodge of Amalienburg are among the greatest treasures of Bavarian Baroque and Rococo architecture. But behind these magnificent walls lies something even more captivating – the remarkable story of a French princess who changed Bavaria forever.
Nymphenburg Palace Tour – What to Expect
This is not just a tour of a palace – it is the story of Henriette-Adelaide de Savoy-Piedmont, a French princess who arrived in Munich at the age of 15, knowing neither her husband nor her new country. Granddaughter of King Henry IV of France, niece of Louis XIII and cousin of the Sun King Louis XIV, she was one of the most well-connected women in 17th century Europe.
She came with a mission: to bring the Baroque arts – painting, music and architecture – to the Bavarian court. And she succeeded spectacularly.
After waiting twelve long years for an heir, Henriette-Adelaide finally gave birth to a son. In gratitude, her husband Elector Ferdinand Maria gave her the most extraordinary gift imaginable: a palace.
On this guided tour, students discover:
- The fascinating story of Henriette-Adelaide and her influence on Bavarian culture
- The stunning Palace of Nymphenburg – birthplace of King Ludwig II of Neuschwanstein fame
- The breathtaking hunting lodge Amalienburg – a miniature Trianon by master architect François Cuvilliés
